Jeweled Pendant/Chain Byzantine Madonna & Child Iridescent Blue Silk Lined Box

Description

It is an exquisite jeweled pendant of the Madonna and Child in  Greek Orthodox imagery, in sealed locket format with short chain attachment and decorated with a burnished gold ribbon, in its original presentation box of iridescent dark blue, with transparent viewing window on the top lid and lined in pale gold silk.
The pendant locket measures 2 1/2” long, 2” wide, with a short matching gilded chain, 3” diameter (6” long). The image inside may be accessed by the two fold-out latches on the reverse, which hold in the black velvet casing. The front is decorated with blue resin enamel work and studded with clear  & colored rhinestones. The box measures 3 ½ by 3 by 7/8” deep. There is no information on the piece as to exact origin or manufacturer, graded in Near MINT condition
