For auction is this beautiful 1880 Ten Dollar Legal Tender. This note is the key Fr.100 with the signature combination of Scofield and Gilfillan. In our opinion this note is a
Strong Extra Fine
. It is super crisp with no rips, tears or pinholes. It features razor sharp edges, full margins and incredible color. It gets it's nickname because of the vignette of a scowling Daniel Webster, congressman, senator and secretary of state. The portrait was designed by his political adversary Alfred Sealy. Sealy designed the eagle on the bottom obverse so that if you turn the note upside down, the eagle looks like a jackass!! This note is often referred to as the "Jackass Note." On the right you have Ponchahontas being presented to the royal court of England.
