    Description

End of tour award presented to Chief SOG John F. Sadler. The Counter Insurgency Support Office (CISO) bolo was dismantled, handles stained and blade engraved: PRESENTED TO, COL JOHN F. SADLER CHIEF SOG, BY THE OFFICERS AND MEN, MAC V SOG, 1970 - 1972 before it was chromed and had three wartime beer cans affixed to the face. The piece does have the Vietnamese manufactured wall mount hardwood stand and a picture of the veteran during his tour (not pictured).
John "Skip" Sadler was the last Chief SOG and served from 1970 - 1972. The first Chief SOG was Clyde Russell 1964-1965, second was Donald Blackburn 1965-1966, John Singlaub 1966 - 1968 and Stephen Cavanaugh 1968-1970. As Chief SOG they were responsible for all MAC V SOG projects and programs.
I purchased the piece from the veteran over twenty years ago and have decided to start parting with some items. The piece is featured on specialforceshistory as artifact number APAW-031 and will come with a Letter of Authenticity and a reprinted picture of the veteran during his tour.
